11/24/2023 0 Comments Serviio ps4 profileI thought I'd try changing your profile to convert DTS but when I change ac3 to dca, I get an error in Serviio. I tried two different files that are both H264 encoded and the AC3 file plays and the DTS file gives an error saying the encoder is unavailable. If I try to play a mkv file with DTS, I get the encoder error in 8player. It looks like my 8player is playing AC3 without any issue. I've also figured out that the issue seems to be with DTS, not AC3. Thanks DenyAll, that definitely cleared up the detection issue. My verdict after all of this is that, for me at least, 8Player and Serviio are a good match (the AC3 issue for those that experience it is easily catered for by Serviio), but there may be constraints dependant on your iHardware. Lower bit rate AVI's (divx) and MP4's though worked well (a slight delay on start-up but then good). I also put 8Player on my old iPhone 3GS and yep, stutters like crazy on any higher bit rate file (mkv's) when they worked at all. Would be nice if I could get AC3 support as then I wouldn't need to transcode anything. Maybe its a country thing? or maybe something else on your device is enabling AC3 (wouldn't think it works that way)? Who knows, some mysteries were never meant to be solved I suppose. I also set to "downmix to stereo" - that didn't work (nor would it as it only comes into play if transcoding, but it was the only thing I could see in your environment that was different than mine). I'm at a loss - I triple checked, no AC3 support for me. I couldn't reproduce it - it could be the buffer size that each app is allowing which could be allocated dynamically depending on how much free space you have (but I am speculating) - I have an iPad 2 16GB, with about 11GB free. I also added some VOB files to my library from a DVD copy (didn't know Serviio supported them) and they also streamed fine (no stuttering, but seeking didn't work in 8Player).īut your point isn't lost on me - your stuttering files play fine in Aceplayer but not in 8Player. I have some mkv's that stream perfectly (they are transcoded as above as they have AC3 audio), typically 3-4Mbps bit rate. I haven't any files of that size to test with, but I wouldn't think size is the issue - it would be more bit rate when streaming. unless its something else in the media I test that is causing it to fail (I tested quite a few, and they all fail if using AC3 audio. I checked and I am also on ver 2.9 of 8Player (lite) and still no support for AC3 for me? If I turn off the AC3 conversion in the profile above the media fails to play.
